Covers, cushions, throws: the new upcycling home decor range from Tilli

2020 has certainly been the year of the house! Indeed, the various confinements have forced us to stay at home and, indirectly, to take the time to observe our interiors.

Many of you have told us about your desire for
decorating changes and this has prompted us to expand our range of services more quickly than expected! Recycling, upcycling, transformation, do it yourself are all new terms that have the wind in their sails. And Tilli is very much part of this same dynamic.

Together, we can invent the decor of tomorrow:
responsible, affordable decor.

You can now call on our Tillistes for the
retouch or creation of seat covers (sofa, armchair, chair), cushion covers, but also poufs and plaids. This new decorating service is in addition to our existing curtains service.

You'll discover our full range directly on our site, via our
quote simulation page.

Personalise your sofa cover

To give your sofa a makeover for less, the best thing we've found is to sew a new slipcover.

This avoids the need to buy a new sofa - and mass consumption in the process - and prevents them being consigned to the bulky goods bin because their upholstery no longer appeals, even though they're still in excellent condition.

With this new offer, we wanted to be able to offer a less expensive alternative to the traditional upholsterer. Your
budget is controlled and the planet, better protected. It costs €191 to create a cover for a 2-seater sofa, including the throw, seat, backrest and the work of your artisan seamstress.

Besides, it's also really
gratifying to think that you've been involved in making a piece of your interior, don't you think?

A cover developed to make your life easier

A sofa cover? Yes, but how? The cover is made up of a panel that fits directly over the frame. The backrest and seats, also covered in a new cover, are placed on top of this.

You can consider covering your sofa entirely or focusing only on certain elements. Our seamstresses are at your service, to offer you tailor-made, according to your needs and desires.

We have developed a cover that is easily made by our Tillistes, durable and 100% customisable. For example, perhaps you'd like to have
pretty bows on your cover? Or would you prefer to have embroidered pattern or initials on it?

Sort through your cupboards before we arrive, perhaps you'll be lucky enough to find
an old linen sheet that could form the basis of your new slipcover?

What you need to know to co-create your cover

A few things you need to know to get your sofa cover by Tilli right. Firstly, at the moment it only applies to straight sofas. We are working to be able to offer you a solution for corner sofas or sofas with a meridian.

Naturally, the backrests and seats must be removable.
And you will need, ahead of your first appointment, to have the fabric of your choice, washed beforehand. In the event that the sofa in question is made of leather, we invite you to take a look at our articles on the special leather upcycling or on leather repair. From our side, we'll be able to help you take care of your thin leathers, but for thicker leathers, you'll have to turn to other professionals.

Creating your sofa slipcover is done
in two or three stages. First, your tailor will come and take the necessary measurements, discuss your project with you and give you the best possible advice on Finishing. He will also take the opportunity to collect your fabrics.

Please allow three to five days for your cover to be made.

During the second appointment, your Tilliste will be able to install the pier and the seat and back covers. If necessary, your Makers can take the opportunity to pin the hem. He will bring you back the finished slipcover for a third appointment.

Dress up your sofa with all kinds of cushions

In this final part, we'd like to talk to you about accessorising. Adding cushions or plaids to a sofa is sometimes enough to completely modernise it.

So go all out and let your inner creativity speak for itself.

These accessories will not only bring
a new style to your sofa but also a cosy look. And that's surely what we look for most in our interiors!

You can mix
colours and textures to suit your tastes or the season. Don't be afraid of faux pas, everything can be mixed, or almost.

If you're having trouble
defining your style or matching colours, don't hesitate to ask our Tillists for advice. We can also help you with the making of your cushion covers and your plaids. Just like sofa covers, they're now part of the new decor offer at Tilli!

Together, we can create
your made-to-measure cushion covers and personalise them to your taste: choice of fabric, lining, fastening...

Finally, if you'd like to get started
making your plaid, we invite you to check out our article on sewing a plaid with recycled fabrics! You'll find all our tips there.
