As you know, leather is a living material that fragilises over time and requires regular maintenance. However, through wear and tear or accident,it sometimes becomes damaged, torn or even cracked.
Rest assured, except in exceptional cases, it is possible to repair leather.
And we'll explain how!
To avoid having to repair your leather bag from wear and tear, you can simply maintain it regularly. It may sound simplistic but it's the basic rule.
Cleaning your bag regularly with a cloth and wax will give it everything it needs to ensure its longevity.
It all starts with this!
To remove a stain from your leather bag, you'll first need to determine its origin. In fact, the solution will not necessarily be the same, whether it's a DIY stain, damp or paint.
Whatever the case, you should know that three products stand out and could be very useful to you: vinegar water, turpentine and 90° alcohol.
Be careful, however, not to discolour your leather and if you have any doubts, don't try anything! Sometimes it's better to stay wise and call in a professional!"
Through wear and tear, your bag has torn, revealing the veins in its beautiful leather.
Depending on the size of the hole and its nature, several options are available to you.
For a tear no bigger than a centimetre, you can apply a coating to the affected area. This will seal and thus fill the hole. For a more aesthetically pleasing result, don't hesitate to apply a small coat of stain. This trick works really well with cigarette holes for example!
If the tear is more significant, then you will certainly need to use a piece of leather to come and reinforce and consolidate the damaged part. You can sew or glue this yoke with a special leather glue.
Finally, the last option is stitching. This sewing technique nevertheless requires skill. Don't venture into unfamiliar territory at the risk of damaging your bag. Thanks to a so-called saddle stitch, you will sew up the torn part by superimposing the two associated leather edges.
