Upcycling means transforming a product to give it a second life. We reinvent the product by diverting it from its original use.

In interior design, for example, pallets used to store and transport heavy goods are recycled to make tables, headboards, shelves, etc.

Assemblage de matières
Better than recycling
Recycling involves recovering material from a number of products to create a new raw material. Plastic bottles are compacted and crushed to obtain plastic flakes, which are then melted down to create new bottles.

In upcycling, we add value to the object without degrading the material. The upcycled product, through its new use and consumption, brings greater satisfaction.

Good for the planet
If upcycling is on everyone's lips, it's because this approach corresponds to a more responsible way of consuming.

By reusing existing items, we slow down the production of new products and their environmental impact: pesticide use, excessive water consumption, chemical treatments, pollution linked to transport, etc.

By making a garment last, upcycling promotes sustainable fashion as opposed to the disposable fashion encouraged by fast fashion.

Finally, upcycling requires no additional energy, unlike recycling, where the processing of products to create new materials is energy-intensive.
Prise de mesures
Creative and aesthetic
Good for the planet, but also for our wardrobes! Upcycling is a way of sorting out our wardrobes and renewing our wardrobe: a skirt becomes a blouse, a curtain becomes a jacket.

Take the time to imagine a new use for that old garment and create a unique product that suits your tastes and needs.

In practical terms, upcycling,
what does it mean?
Do you have a pair of Trousers in your wardrobe that you no longer wear? Reuse the fabric to create a pouch.

Moving house and your curtains no longer fit in your new living room? Use them to make cushion covers.

Do you have a silk skirt whose cut has gone out of fashion but you still like the fabric? Turn it into a top or scarf.

Our Tillistes are here to advise you.

Upcycling for all
the whole family
Think about your boyfriend's dressing room too. Reuse the clothes he no longer wears to complete your wardrobe. A white shirt can be transformed into a sophisticated blouse, a pair of suit trousers into super-stylish pegged trousers.

Do you have children? Extend your upcycling approach to the little ones' wardrobe: your jumper with damaged elbows can be transformed into a bloomer, a flannel shirt into dungarees...

Where can you find inspiration?
The internet is full of ideas for recycling. Find DIY ideas on Instagram, Pinterest or on our Inspirations page.

Even better: if you've fallen in love with a top in a shop, try reproducing it with old clothes you have at home, using expert hands.

Upcycling with Tilli :
how does it work?
During the appointment, the Tilliste will carry out a real diagnosis of your dressing room. Show him the clothes you no longer wear. Do you already have ideas of what you can do with them? That's fine. If not, let him guide you.

Our Tillistes are trained stylists who can advise you on possible transformations. Together, you'll find a new use for items you might otherwise have thrown away!

After the necessary fittings and measurements have been taken, the Tillist will take the clothes back to his workshop to be upcycled. Your clothes will be delivered to you 3 days after the appointment, the time it takes for our Tilliste to upcycle your clothes.

Give your clothes a second life with Tilli :)
