Today, 18 March, we celebrate World Recycling Day and take a look at the key figures. In 2022, France collected 260,403 tonnes of textiles and footwear. Although this figure increases every year, less than a quarter of used textiles are actually recycled. The majority is still thrown away, incinerated or landfilled, generating considerable pollution.
Every year, France wastes 442 million euros on discarded clothes that could be repaired or reused. This waste represents a lost opportunity for the circular economy.
