Make your own bag from recycled fabric

On the back, on the shoulder, in the hand, slung over the shoulder, the bag is omnipresent and occupies a major place in our dressing room. Many of us like to change them, depending on the season, our style or simply our activities.

Take out all your old clothes or those you no longer wear and imagine your brand new 100% upcycled bag.

A tote bag in recycled cotton

Let's start with the simplest, a pretty cotton tote bag. This one won't require too much technical skill and you might just manage to make it for yourself with a few scissor costs!

Dig out the old sheets from yesteryear, the tablecloths you inherited from your grandmother, the moth-eaten linen curtains (
see our great article on repairing moth holes in your clothes) and all the thick fabrics cluttering up your cupboards that you haven't taken out for ages.

If you only have plain fabrics, you could consider a pretty embroidery with a first name, a statement message or a poetic illustration.

Did you know that by personalising our objects, we give them a unique value that makes us more inclined to keep them for longer?

So let's use our imagination and create beauty from what we already have!

A pair of recycled jeans on your back

Over the last few seasons, the backpack has once again become a must-have, and brands are taking pleasure in adapting it in all its forms.

Today, be your own stylist and create a backpack that really looks like you!

With our Tillistes, we thought of the denim backpack, because we all have old jeans in our cupboards that could well be upcycled.

You'll choose the shape: rectangle, square, round, oval or even triangular. Add pockets here and there, tassels or shiny zips. It's your bag and you're free to customise it to your image.

A bohemian bag with your old jacquards

Perhaps you brought back some magnificent jacquards, brocades or other embroidered fabrics from your last trip to India?

This is the perfect time to use them to make a bohemian-inspired bag.It could be made entirely of fabric or with pretty leather handles, to give it a more obvious qualitative character. The choice is yours.

Prefer small handles for a day bag and large ones for a sports or travel bag.

Isn't it exciting all these new ideas?
The wonderful thing about upcycling is that one,
you give your clothes a second life, two, you help protect nature and even you support a new form of fashion and three, you feel proud and happy to wear clothes or accessories that are unique and have a story.
