How do I repair a fly?

It's often you gentlemen who can be seen with your fly open.
But let's be honest, it happens to women too. Over time, the fly on our jeans tends to get stuck, slip or even break. Here are some tips on how to repair them.

Your fly goes down by itself

When everything is securely in place but yet your fly slips open on its own, you can use a key ring.

Attach the key ring to the pull tab on your fly. Then zip up your fly and pass the ring through the button on your Trousers.

And that's it!

This
simple tip will prevent a lot of mishaps.

Replacing the zip puller on your fly

If your fly pull has broken, you can use the same ring as seen above.

This time,
the ring will act as a zip puller. All you have to do is insert it into the shuttle of your fly.

You can also use
a pretty leather thread or ribbon, for a bit more style!

Your fly is stuck

This time it's your fly that's stuck!

Your first option is to
grease your zip with a greasy substance like oil or Marseille soap. See if this allows it to snap back into place.

Also inspect your fly and
check that none of the teeth are bent or broken. If they are, you can try to repair them with long-nose pliers.

And if, despite these various options, your fly still doesn't work, then it's time to change it! Take a look at
our special zip article explaining all the options.
