Is your coat too short and you want to make it longer?
Is this really possible? Tilli explains it all to you, and here she suggests various methods for giving length back to your beloved coat.
First of all, creativity knows no bounds, but style does. So let's be honest: we can't make every coat longer!
A feather down jacket, for example. It's hard to find the same fabric and stuff feathers inside so that the continuity of your down jacket is impeccable.
So for all those coats where you don't really think there's an option, know that you can play around with layering pieces. For example jacket/coat or waistcoat/coat. This will add length and style to your outfit.
However, be careful with material and colour combinations.
To add length to your coat, you can make a complete transformation and play on the hybrid style by mixing materials and lengths.
This option, extremely tempting in fashion terms, will however require excellent mastery of style and tailoring.
So you may need to call in a professional. Have you already met one of our Tillistes? Modellers, stylists, seamstresses, they have fairy hands and will undoubtedly be able to help you with this type of project.
This is your chance to have a completely unique and timeless coat.
Hyper tempting, isn't it?
For some coats, it will be easy for you to find the same fabric. If that's your case, you're in luck because you're going to be able to extend your coat in a relatively simple and transparent way!
To do this, you'll need to unstitch the hem of your coat and sew the extra fabric in its place.
Little tip: you could even consider sewing your extra fabric with a zip. That way, you'll be able to lengthen or shrink your coat to your heart's content!
