After the article on sewing double curtains, today Tilli explains how to shorten your curtains that are too long without cutting them.
In fact, your curtains may one day occupy another window and it may be a good idea to preserve their length using some relatively simple little tricks!
Here's another option that doesn't require any sewing, but rather a strong sense of detail and decoration.
Simply attach your curtains with a classic tieback and hook system, which you will choose carefully. This will bring a great deal of elegance and chic to your home.
There are loads of different styles to choose from, depending on the mood of your room.
The good thing? You can change them whenever you like!
There are even simpler tricks that won't cost you a thing!
For example, you can tie a big knot at the bottom of your curtain or pull it up over the rod and let it fall nicely.
Try out different options and see which one goes best with your interior.
The too-long curtain is itself a trend so you might as well leave it hanging on the floor!
Hang your curtains on their rod and measure the length you want.
Generally speaking, the bottom of the curtain should be close to the floor, to increase the effect of the ceiling height. But you can also leave 5 to 10 cm of space between the floor and the curtain. The choice is yours.
Pin your curtain at the chosen height. You have two options for your hem, either machine sew it or heat seal it.
In the case of the iron-on hem, nothing could be simpler, all you have to do is place the strip of iron-on all along your hem and iron it with your iron. An iron-on hem is just as easy to remove, thanks to the steam from your iron!
