How do I modify a dress?

Ah... The dress, eternal flagship piece of the feminine wardrobe.
It hugs morphologies and enhances our silhouettes.
What would we do without them?

We should
never reject a dress because its size no longer suits us or its colour seems outdated.

Instead,
let's celebrate the dress for what it's worth and offer it lives over and over again.

The style of my dress no longer suits me

You think your dress is a bit old-fashioned and you have every right to. Tastes change, as does fashion. Don't forget, though, that fashion is cyclical. So, at some point, there's a good chance your dress will be back in fashion!

Whatever the case, you can
customise your dress to your image today. The possibilities are endless. You can shorten or lengthen it, cut its sleeves, open its back, add fabric pieces like ruffles, gathers or even a new sequin bustier.

What are you really dreaming of?

Tell one of our Tillistes who will come straight to your home and put together a brand new dress in your image for you and with you.

The size of my dress no longer suits my body type

If it's a question of size, you should know that here too, anything is possible and often the alterations aren't as complicated as you think.

The first thing to do is
put your dress on backwards and observe how it fits. How are the seams, is there a lining? This will help you determine which techniques to use if you need to cut, add a lining or use darts.

Incidentally, on the subject
of darts, they're one of the first things you need to think about when adjusting the size of your dress or any other garment. Add some at the chest, back, waist or armholes.

See what your dress needs and get to work!

I've decided not to wear my dresses any more. What can I do?

And if you never wear your dresses again, offer them the honour of marrying your body in other forms.

You could, for example, turn them into
combi-shorts or skirts?

Or
use the fabric to make yourself original tote bags, tote-bags or clutches?

You see,
there's so much to do when it comes to upcycling and so no reason to get rid of your dresses or any other garment in your wardrobe for that matter!

So what are you going to do with your dress?
Tell us all about it!
We'd love to be part of your project.
